Established by the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), the purpose of World Cancer Day (WCD) is to raise awareness about cancer to encourage its prevention, detection, and treatment.

Cancer care has changed dramatically in recent years. Here at Roche, we’re proud to have played an important role in delivering better outcomes for patients and improving understanding of how cancers develop and grow.

However, cancer remains one of the major challenges in healthcare, and there is much more to be done to improve the lives of those with cancer worldwide.

“With our ever-expanding understanding of human biology and the drivers of tumour growth, we are at the forefront of a new era of cancer discovery”
Roche CEO Dr Severin Schwan

In order to build on the progress achieved so far we must continue to push for the best possible tests and treatments through research, collaboration and innovation. That’s why on this World Cancer Day, we would like to take the opportunity to not only recognize how far we’ve come already, but to emphasize our continued commitment to driving oncology innovation.

“We need to continue our efforts relentlessly”
Global Medical Director of Hematology and Oncology Dr Niko Andre
