Roche receives CE Mark certification for the second analytical module for cobas® 8000 modular analyzer series

Roche (SIX: RO, ROG; OTCQX: RHHBY) announced today that CE Mark certification for the second clinical chemistry module for cobas® 8000 modular analyzer series has been granted, allowing commercial distribution of further configurations of the analyzers in Europe as well as in all countries recognizing the CE Mark in the EMEA, Latin America and Asia-Pacific regions.*

The cobas® 8000 modular analyzer series is the newest member of the Roche cobas® modular platform family combining both clinical chemistry and immunochemistry testing. It is designed to enable high volume laboratories to deliver reliable results with outstanding workflow and cost efficiency.

The launch of the new cobas c 502 module, a mid volume clinical chemistry analyzer with a throughput of 600 tests / hour, enables Roche to offer 6 additional configurations by combining the previously launched module with the new module.

“With the  launch of the high volume  cobas c 701 clinical chemistry module at the end of August, we set new standards in testing efficiency for high volume laboratories. Now, with the launch of a new mid volume module, we are again setting new standards. Customers can now consolidate the full parameter menu of 116 clinical chemistry tests into one single configuration”, says Ann Costello, Head of Serum Work Area Solutions.

“With cobas® 8000 modular analyzer series consolidation is achieved without compromising throughput. The combination of the high volume module c 701 and the mid volume module c 502 optimizes sample workflow by automatically allocating the most frequently requested assays to the high volume modules, and the less frequently asked assays to the mid volume module. As a consequence the system has much better waste management capabilities on low volume assays thereby positively contributing to the overall cost management of the laboratory.”

In the coming months, Roche will continue to commercialize additional modules for both immunochemistry and clinical chemistry.
