A new era in blood glucose monitoring begins: The Accu-Chek Mobile system - the world’s first strip-free testing device

The first and unique strip-free monitoring system enables smooth, discreet and accurate testing wherever and whenever needed, thus overcoming barriers for the non-adherence to SMBG, the self-monitoring of blood glucose.

Today’s busy lifestyles often pose a challenge for people living with diabetes. A recent study shows that numerous people with diabetes struggle with the adherence to SMBG. As regular testing is a proven cornerstone of successful diabetes management, Roche Diabetes Care again addresses the still existing constraints in diabetes management and with Accu-Chek Mobile system the company introduces a technological solution that is the latest innovation in the Accu-Chek portfolio. This revolutionary new strip-free blood glucose monitoring device takes the simplicity and convenience of testing to a whole new level. The Accu-Chek Mobile system is designed to overcome barriers regarding the non-adherence to SMBG and sets new standards in diabetes self-management.

Existing barriers: Minor issues - major impact

Even people with diabetes on insulin therapy sometimes struggle with SMBG. About 40% of patients on fixed or flexible insulin therapy measure their blood glucose less often than recommended stating reasons such as the lack of time.1)“Another prime reason preventing people with diabetes from testing their own blood glucose levels are issues surrounding the handling of test strips,” explains Ida Wijsman, Coordinator Diabetes Care at the Gelre Hospital in Zutphen, the Netherlands. These seemingly insignificant factors are today’s biggest barriers when it comes to SMBG. “Because SMBG interferes with their daily routines, patients risk severe complications and secondary diseases,” says Wijsman.

Comprehensive features for an interlocking solution

The Accu-Chek Mobile system takes all these issues into account and provides a solution. A test cassette with 50 tests on a continuous tape makes testing as convenient and easy as never before. In 4 simple steps and with no handling of single test strips, the system allows for discreet testing. Apart from the test cassette, the Accu-Chek Mobile system provides 6 lancets in a drum with the integrated lancing device, making the handling of single lancets obsolete as well.

Setting new standards in diabetes management

As a result users do not have to worry about things like waste disposal. “Its comprehensive features with only 0.3 µl blood volume and 5 seconds test time and most importantly its strip-free mode of operation make the Accu-Chek Mobile system an all-in-one device perfectly equipped for everyday use,” says Dirk Scherff, Head of Integrated Systems, Roche Diabetes Care. “Whether at home or on the road, pioneering devices such as the Accu-Chek Mobile system offer comprehensive solutions tailored to the needs of consumers.” And recent study data is able to underline this: Not only the no-coding feature but in particular even more the strip-free benefit make the Accu-Chek Mobile system so easy and stress-free to use, typical mistakes in testing can be reduced by up to 20%2).
