Roche becomes founding member of ICRC Corporate Support Group

Novel partnership between the International Committee of the Red Cross and the business world

Roche has joined with several other companies in forging a strategic, long-term partnership with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC). Jakob Kellenberger, President of ICRC, and representatives of the companies gathered today in Geneva to launch the ICRC Corporate Support Group, ushering in an innovative new form of partnership with the ICRC. This partnership is committed to supporting the humanitarian mission of the ICRC.

Under the terms of the partnership, Roche will provide significant support to the ICRC over a six-year period starting this year. This support will include cash donations as well as in-kind donations of goods and services. The ICRC will allocate the resources it receives from Roche to humanitarian programmes in emergency situations or use them for rehabilitation purposes in the aftermath of conflicts and major disasters. Additionally, the ICRC may use Roche’s donations for prevention efforts in areas where an emergency appears likely to occur. Roche will consider the ICRC its primary global partner for channelling resources to support humanitarian efforts in emergency situations.
