Forty-three alleged compliance failures reported in 2007. Of these, 29 led to corrective action, including the termination of 17 contracts of employment
Risk Management Charter developed and approved by Corporate Executive Committee

Developed Compliance Officer network across all affiliates e.g. by conducting five regional workshops on behaviour in business

More than 12,000 employees from 90 countries took part in the annual Global Roche Employee AIDS Walk, raising around 750,000 Swiss francs to support children orphaned by AIDS in Malawi.
Launched pilot workshops of expanded Genetics Education Program for secondary teachers, in partnership with Life Science Learning Center of University of Zurich and Federal Technology Institute
Ran inaugural “Roche Continents - Youth! Arts! Science!”, a week-long seminar for selected European university science and arts students, in partnership with Salzburg Festival
Through UNICEF, supported two primary schools in Malawi via Re&Act, which channels employees’ donations to worthy causes and was officially launched in early 2006

Launched a new IT-based global SHE risk inventory. This will provide a global overview of Roche’s SHE risks
Launched a new intranet-based best SHE practice database where sites can share details of incidents and good practice
Gave the Responsible Care Network Award to 10 Roche sites for the best energy conservation projects and ideas
Selected 22 winners from 9 countries in our ECOmpetition, which invites employees to suggest ”eco-projects” to improve environmental protection and reduce costs at their facility
Received no significant SHE-related fines, although one severe incident was reported. Nine operators were affected by an explosion, one of them seriously
Sadly, one of our medical representatives died in a road accident while working. This was our first fatality in 7 years
