In Germany, sepsis, which causes more than 160 deaths each day , takes more lives
than diseases such
as lung cancer, breast cancer and bowel cancer combined. This trend is also being observed in other
western countries. Sepsis continues to be one of the biggest, though most
underrepresented, worries
of modern medicine. Approximately 50% of patients with severe sepsis die, despite the deployment of
