Profile

Along with Roche Pharmaceuticals, Roche Diagnostics is an important part of the foundation that modern healthcare builds upon.

Our broad range of innovative diagnostic tests and systems play a pivotal role in the groundbreaking area of integrated healthcare solutions and cover the early detection, targeted screening, evaluation and monitoring of disease.

Roche Diagnostics is active in all market segments, from scientific research and clinical laboratory systems to patient self-monitoring.

Business areas

Roche Professional Diagnostics

Roche Professional Diagnostics’ products support clinical decision making in a wide variety of indication fields, including oncology, virology, cardiovascular, inflammatory and infectious diseases.

Roche Professional Diagnostics provides integrated cobas® branded solutions for blood serum testing in commercial and hospital labs, medical centers and laboratory networks. Further cobas®, CoaguChek® and Accu-Chek® products are designed for the professional point-of-care market and utilize parameters such as cardiac markers, blood glucose and blood gases in the emergency room or in the intensive care unit. CoaguChek® products also allow  patients to self-test their coagulation status at home.

By including other diagnostic disciplines such as hematology and urinalysis, RPD provides a true continuum of In-Vitro Diagnostics, offering healthcare professionals actionable information of the right type at the right time and place.

Roche Diabetes Care

Roche Diabetes Care’s products are all designed with the same basic aims in mind: to help people with diabetes live healthy, productive lives and to make managing diabetes easier. Monitoring systems with integrated lancets and test strips and software for storing and analysing data are an increasingly important part of Roche’s diabetes care portfolio because they improve glycemic (blood glucose) control for many users, in addition to offering greater convenience. Activities aimed at integrating glucose monitoring and data management with insulin delivery are ongoing and may one day result in systems that closely mimic the way the healthy pancreas regulates blood glucose levels.

Roche Molecular Diagnostics

Roche Molecular Diagnostics develops and commercialises highly sensitive instrument systems and tests that reliably detect viruses and other pathogens in patient samples and in donated blood, tissues and organs. Because these products use technologies that directly detect the genetic material (DNA or RNA) of infecting pathogens such as HIV or hepatitis viruses, they can identify and quantify infections earlier and more specifically than tests based on the body’s immune response to infection. As a result, patients can be treated and monitored with greater precision, and the risk of their infecting others through blood or organ donations is reduced. The business area is also working on new gene-based tests to improve the diagnosis and treatment of non-infectious diseases, with a focus on the areas of cancer and inflammatory disease.

Roche Applied Science

Roche Applied Science supplies a broad and growing array of instruments and highly specific reagents and test kits for use in the diverse research market. Its product portfolio and capabilities are especially strong in genomics and proteomics, sciences that are transforming our understanding and the treatment of disease.

Roche Tissue Diagnostics

Ventana, a member of the Roche group, is the leading supplier of automated diagnostic systems to the anatomical pathology market. The instrument and reagent systems are used in clinical histology, cytology, and drug discovery laboratories around the globe. Through automation and systems integration, Ventana is standardising and optimising the slide staining process, thereby helping pathologists recommend treatment solutions that deliver superior patient care.
