Antibodies
A group of glycoproteins (immunoglobulins) which are formed by lymphocytes and plasma cells in the immune system after contact with antigens from white blood cells of the immune system (so-called B-lymphocytes) and plasma cells and which react exclusively with the corresponding antigen (antigen-antibody reaction). Antibodies may bind to both foreign antigens, such as microorganisms which cause disease, and to native antigens, such as tumour cells.
