Cortisol
Cortisol is a hormone which is formed in the adrenal cortex and is one of the glucocorticoids. It counteracts the effects of insulin. It increases the production of glucose in the body (gluconeogenesis), raises blood sugar (hyperglycaemia) and increases protein breakdown.
