Roche announces the 6000th installation of the cobas® 6000 analyzer series

The cobas® 6000 analyzer series has strengthened Roche’s leading position in the in vitro diagnostics market by satisfying the unmet needs of the clinical laboratory. Launched in 2006 the compact and reliable platform has achieved rapid market acceptance in mid to high workload laboratories by offering the full consolidation of clinical chemistry and immunoassay testing.  The installation of the  6000th  cobas 6000 module makes Roche’s system one of the most successful Serum Work Area solutions in recent years.

Customer events are planned for Australia, Brazil, China, Turkey and the United States, where installations of the cobas 6000 analyzer series have generated considerable momentum. Yet customer satisfaction is truly global. “For us, this concept is very attractive, we are a medium sized laboratory and the cobas 6000 analyzer is the ideal solution,” said Dr. Jos Pouwels, The Netherlands. Pier Mario Gerthoux, Italy, states: “We looked at the competition, but we felt that Roche has the best system.”

Exceeding expectations

Why is the cobas 6000 analyzer series so successful? For James Linehan, Marketing Manager at Roche, the reason is clear: “It’s the only product in its class capable of performing 200 of the most important diagnostic tests on one system. Consequently, laboratories require less blood from patients, and physicians receive critical test results much faster – two powerful factors in lowering costs and improving patient outcomes.”

Just as every patient requires individualized care, every laboratory is unique. Striking the balance between high clinical standards and efficient operation requires innovative solutions. “Starting with the cobas 6000 analyzer series, Roche has developed a system platform that can be tailored to the individual needs of the laboratory,” said Ann Costello, Head of Roche Serum Work Area Solutions. “The tremendous success of the cobas 6000 analyzer series gives us confidence to launch other important elements of our platform, such as the cobas 8000 modular analyzer series* for high workload laboratories.”

The cobas 6000 analyzer series is part of a larger solution, which enhances testing efficiency in laboratories. Combined with MODULAR PRE-ANALYTICS for sample preparation and middleware platforms for data management, the solution is designed to automate many of the manual processes, helping laboratories to further simplify their operation and improve the quality of patient results.
