Engagement

Open and honest communication builds trust and co-operation between management and employees. By talking to and engaging with our employees we can better understand their needs. We also consult with employees about changes in the business that may affect them.
Employees can provide valuable feedback on how to improve working conditions and make procedures more efficient. We encourage employees to submit ideas on how to improve day-to-day working practices through the ‘IdeasManagement’ intranet site. Employees receive an award for ideas that lead to significant improvements and cost savings.
Our Employment Policy recognises the right of every employee to join a union or employee organisation. We engage with and work with employee organisations in all countries where we operate.
The Roche Europe Forum provides a valuable platform for the regular exchange of information on business policy and strategy with employee representatives. Delegates represent approximately 34,000 employees in Europe, almost 45% of the total Roche workforce. Larger sites – notably those in Germany, Spain, France, Switzerland, Mexico and China – have works councils or similar employee organisations of their own.
See Stakeholder Engagement for information on how we engage with other stakeholders.
