Scientist (Protein Engineering)

We are looking for an independent researcher who has expertise in molecular biology and protein engineering. Ideally, extensive experience with phage display, antibody expression, characterization, and purification is preferred. This position will enable the development of new technologies and assays for immunohistochemistry (IHC) cancer diagnostics.
Responsible for initiating and executing scientific research to support new and existing products. Plans and executes laboratory research. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles, concepts, and technologies to potential inventions, products and problems. Maintains broad knowledge of state-of-the art principles and theories. Makes contributions to scientific literature and conferences. Serves as an in-house and outside consultant. Promotes and participates in the professional development of scientists and laboratory facilities. Participates in development of patent applications. Uses professional concepts to contribute to the development of product or process principles and to achieve objectives in creative and effective ways.
  • Cloning and expression of constructs for protein engineering applications.
  • Characterization of proteins through in vitro assays such as ELISA or IHC.
  • Small-to-medium scale protein and antibody production and purification.
  • Construction of protein libraries for selection and functional screening.
  • Projects are assigned with defined scope and goals.
  • Direction and mentoring are provided by manager, more senior scientists, or project leader.
  • Plans and executes assigned projects and utilizes thorough technical and theoretical understanding of numerous techniques.
  • Analyzes data, evaluates results, forms conclusions and provides/implements process or document improvements.
  • Applies advanced scientific knowledge to projects.
  • Demonstrates potential for technical proficiency, scientific creativity, collaboration with others and independent thought.
  • Applies advanced technical writing skills to produce reports and documents.
  • Participates in cross functional technical team activities.
  • Shares knowledge and expertise with others.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations of project results to own or other groups.
  • Participates in efforts to define new components, products or processes and identify technical challenges.
  • Creates potentially patentable components for systems, reagents or processes.
