Group Manager, Competitive Intelligence - Market Analysis and Strategy

Competitive Intelligence (CI) delivers objective insights about the competitive environment by analyzing information, determining implications, and advancing alignment to support competitive readiness and guide critical business decisions.  The Group Manager will lead a team of 3-4 CI team members who act as strategic advisors to the US commercial teams with deep expertise in current and future competitive drivers in the marketplace as well as functional expertise in how to use CI to develop competitive strategies. Additionally, he or she identifies critical business issues and opportunities for growth, collaborates with Genentech and Global CI teams, and works to embed an external market point-of view into the strategic direction of the company.


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Embodies CI vision as a trusted strategic advisor and leads his/her team to do the same
  • Able to represent CI function in matrix organization and provide objective commercial viewpoint based on an in-depth understanding and analysis of commercial, clinical, and scientific competitive information
  • Collaborate with brand to plan for competitor launches by co-planning local strategy workshops and supporting rigorous competitive readiness plans
  • Lead competitive threat assessments to develop rigorous team assumptions about key competitors; ensure local assumptions are consistent with global assumptions
  • Provide situational analysis support for quarterly business reviews, brand planning, launch readiness reviews, etc.
  • Effectively manage a team of highly driven professionals. Motivate, develop, and retain top talent including fostering a development-oriented environment that delivers both current performance and long-term individual growth
  • Directs resources and plans effectively, providing leadership context and guidance for team including accountability for approach, scope, quality and timeliness
  • Act and accountable for others in his/her team to comply with all laws, regulations and polices
  • Collaborate across the broader Market Analysis & Strategy organization to deliver holistic analytic insights to the brands. Inform, communicate, and collaborate with MA&S partners
