Lipase inhibitor
Substances which partially inhibit the activity of the enzyme lipase in the gastrointestinal tract. As lipase is responsible for breaking down triglycerides (fats) in the intestine, these can then not be absorbed into the body. Lipase inhibitors are used to support weight reduction in nutritionally related cases of overweight.

Drug side-effects
Reduced absorption of fat soluble vitamins, flatulence (wind) in the intestine or stomach, with a lot of gas release, faecal incontinence (inability to retain the faeces), gastric pain, headache.
