Civilisation diseases
Collective term for diseases which are becoming more common in industrial countries and which arise from lack of physical activity or false nutrition. Examples of civilisation diseases which are related to nutrition include metabolic diseases (e.g. overweight, type 2 diabetes, fatty liver, gall and kidney stones, gout), caries, parodontosis, diseases of the locomotoric system, diseases of the digestive tract (e.g. constipation, liver, gallbladder, pancreatic and intestinal diseases), blood vessel disease (e.g. arteriosclerosis, myocardial infarct, stroke and thrombosis), weakening of the immune system and some forms of cancer.
