Hypertriglyceridaemia
Hypertriglyceridaemia means an increased concentration of triglycerides in blood serum. 1. Primary Hypertriglyceridaemia (familial hypertriglyceridaemia) with a deficiency in the enzyme lipoprotein lipase, which hydrolyses triglycerides. 2. Secondary Hypertriglyceridaemia, i.e. as a consequence of e.g. diabetes mellitus, overweight, alcohol abuse, pancreatitis, chronic renal failure or glycogen storage disease.
