Caput Medusae
Also Medusa Head.
Dilatation of the veins round the navel. The veins then become clearly visible. Caput medusae develops when draining of blood is disturbed within the abdominal cavity, e.g. during portal hypertension or liver cirrhosis, as shunt circulation of the blood may develop.
